Simi Motion: scientific motion analysis
|
|
|
Simi Motion is a motion analysis software which has been developed in close cooperation with leading scientists and institutes from all over the world.
Its modular design means that a customized system tailored to each user’s requirements can be quickly and easily produced. Typical modules which are available are 2D or 3D kinematics (image based motion analysis), inverse dynamics and support for several DV or high-speed video cameras and for EMG, force plates, pressure distribution measuring equipment and other devices.
All the modules are integrated into a user-friendly, intuitive graphical user interface which also includes functions such as reports, algorithms, filters and smoothers, phases and events and extensive export options (C3D, Text, DXF, and file formats for 3DStudio, Poser, Maya etc.).
Simi Motion supports synchronous recording by any number of normal or high-speed cameras. Simi provides systems for recording and analysis with customized hardware configurations. Analog data acquired simultaneously can be automatically synchronized with the video recording.
Video material which has been recorded previously can also be used. The system processes all common video formats and sequences of still images.
Simi Motion can be used in a wide variety of areas. In science and research it is especially important to us to provide extremely flexible and technically highly sophisticated systems. Simi Motion has been developed for use in biomechanics, sports science, neuroscience, veterinary medicine, materials science, space research and many other fields: in fact, everywhere where motion is an important factor.
Simi Motion 2D/3D captures movements with any number of arbitrarily positioned DV or high-speed cameras. The 2D or 3D data of selected points (paths, velocities, accelerations) can be calculated from the recorded videos and illustrated in diagrams synchronized with the video. In analyzing human movement, inverse kinematic calculations based on certain anatomical markers can also be performed to provide the following data:
segment centers (local/global), joint centers (local/global), segment rotations (local/global), joint rotations (local/global), constraining forces (local/global), resistive torques (local/global), muscle torques (local/global), external forces (local/global), external torques (local/global), external leverage (local/global). A large number of mathematical functions such as filtering (moving average, low-pass, high-pass), angle functions (3-point angle, angle to horizontal/vertical etc.), frequency analysis and statistical calculations offer a huge potential for scientific research. All the data can be used for further calculations or exported to other programs.
All the results can be included in a customized report. The program also offers a wide variety of animated features (stick/skeleton figures etc.) so that movements can be viewed in three dimensions. In addition the center of gravity can be calculated using various scientific models (Clauser, De Leva, Dempster, Hanavan and Hanavan). If you use other analog data such as EMG or foot scan data (Novel, Medilogic, RSScan, Tekscan, PArotec), this data can also be acquired at the same time, displayed in synchronization with the videos and is available for further analysis. There is a special integrated module for processing EMG data. This means that no extra EMG software is necessary for pre-filtering, baseline correction, full-wave rectification etc. A number of different export formats are available if you want to export the data for further processing. Customized or predefined phase models are available for improved graphical illustration of the data. Simi Motion has a modular design and a starting-price of 3900 Euros.
